Steven David om katastrofarbetet
In India alone close to Three thousand two hundred people are dead and about a million missing. The Search is still on. The States of Tamilnadu, Andhra Pradesh, Orissa, Pondicherry, Kerala, Goa, and the Andaman and Nicobar Islands have been severely affected.
The need of the hour is
1. Community kitchens in as many 140 Centres to feed those who are displaced.
2. Psychological counseling to the bereaved and the dispossessed
3. Dry rations to 20000 families that are able to return to their houses
4. Medical assistance including vaccination against possible outbreak of epidemics
5. Rebuilding 2000 habitats of those whose houses and belongings are washed away
This is just for your information our focus will be in Andaman but if possiblity we will concentrate also in Orissa and Goa.
I will come with some more information this afternoon. We have a planning Committee meeting in progress.
